SAFE-AID: Self-injury and Aggression Functional Evaluation for People with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities

Summary:
We are in the process of designing a measure that assesses the frequency, severity, and function of many common self-injurious and aggressive behaviours that are common to autistic individuals who have difficulty communicating and require significant caregiver support. This measure is designed to be completed by people who work with or provide care for these individuals. We are currently inviting people to complete our measure in order to build our understanding of how it works and how it compares with similar measures.

Who can participate?
Anyone who has a close relationship with an individual with a diagnosis of autism or another developmental disability that exhibits some form of self-injurious or aggressive behaviour. These can be parents, therapists, educational assistants, or respite/group home staff. All participation is completely anonymous.
What's involved?
Eligible participants can complete our survey package online. This involves completing our own measure as well as two shorter comparable measures for validation. This package contains our consent form as well as some brief demographic information. The entirety of our survey package can take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to complete.
