About the PFAC:

The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) engages cancer patients and families to provide input on research priorities and programs at the University of Calgary. Established in 2021, the council ensures diverse patient and family experiences guide research to improve health outcomes and healthcare system experiences.


Role:

  • Provide feedback on research priorities and programs for the Cuthbert Lab and Oncology Outcomes teams.

  • Collaborate with researchers to ensure the patient and family experience is understood and considered.

  • Advise on governance, priority-setting, research conduct, and knowledge translation.


We Seek:

  • Cancer patients (any stage: new diagnosis to living beyond cancer).

  • Caregivers/family members (past or present key supporters).

  • Representation from diverse tumor sites and demographics to ensure varied perspectives.


Details:

  • 4 meetings/year (held via Zoom—no travel required).

  • Compensation provided for participation.


Goal:

  • Drive patient-centered research that improves health, outcomes, and care practices.

  • Align with the Cuthbert Lab and Oncology Outcomes mandates to enhance patient and family experiences.
