Autism Canada is honoured to announce the inaugural presentation of the Sachs Family Award of Excellence. This prestigious award will be presented for the first time on August 22, 2023, from 1-2 PM, and Emilyn Golden will have the distinction of being the first recipient.
Emilyn Golden, a West Vancouver mother, and a remarkable hero is celebrated for her courageous act of saving a 15-year-old autistic boy who found himself in distress in the cold waters off Dundarave Beach. Mrs. Golden's quick thinking, bravery, and resilience undeniably saved the young boy's life and showed an incredible commitment to her community.
The Sachs Family Award of Excellence is named after the Sachs family, whose dedication to community service and impactful work resonates with the essence of the award. Michael Sachs, a pillar of community engagement in the Jewish National Fund of Canada’s Pacific Region, has spearheaded many significant projects, including collaborations with the Israeli Society for Autistic Children. His commitment to causes such as autism awareness aligns closely with the values of the award and serves as an inspiration for the recipients.
The award recognizes individuals who have contributed outstandingly to promoting understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for those on the Autism Spectrum. Emilyn Golden's actions reflect the values of this award, exhibiting exceptional courage, empathy, and dedication.
Autism Canada is excited to honour Mrs. Golden at the award ceremony and share her inspiring story, not only as a testament to her character but also as an example of the compassionate action we should all strive for in our communities.

AUTISME CANADA RENDENT HOMMAGE À UNE HÉROÏNE LOCAL EN LUI DÉCERNANT LE PRIX D’EXCELLENCE DE LA FAMILLE SACHS
Autisme Canada est honoré d'annoncer la première remise du prix d’excellence de la famille Sachs. Ce prix pres-tigieux sera remis pour la première fois le 22 août 2023, de 13 h à 14 h, et Emilyn Golden aura la distinction d'ê-tre la première lauréate.
Emilyn Golden est célébrée pour son geste courageux de sauver un garçon autiste de 15 ans qui s'est retrouvé en détresse dans les eaux froides au large de Dundarave Beach. La rapidité d'esprit, la bravoure et la résilience de Mme Golden ont indéniablement sauvé la vie du jeune garçon et témoignée d'un engagement incroyable envers sa communauté.
Le prix d’excellence de la famille Sachs porte le nom de la famille Sachs, dont le dévouement à l'égard du service communautaire et leur travail ayant un incroyable impact, correspond à l'essence même du prix. Michael Sachs, un pilier de l’engagement communautaire pour le Fonds national juif de la région du Pacifique du Canada, a dirigé de nombreux projets importants, notamment des collaborations avec la Société israélienne pour les en-fants autistes. Son engagement à l'égard de causes comme la sensibilisation à l'autisme s'harmonise étroite-ment avec les valeurs du prix et sert d'inspiration aux lauréat.e.s.
Le prix reconnaît les personnes qui ont contribué de façon exceptionnelle à promouvoir la compréhension, l'acceptation et l'inclusion pour les personnes sur le spectre de l'autisme. Les actions d'Emilyn Golden reflètent les valeurs de ce prix, faisant preuve d'un courage, d'une empathie et d'un dévouement exceptionnels.
