Research
Autism Canada realizes there are many institutes, universities and individuals working very hard to
unravel the mystery of autism. Everyone's efforts are truly appreciated. At the same time, we realize there is still
work to be done.
Autism Canada feels a multi-disciplinary approach to research is important and necessary.
Current research is primarily focused on the genetic puzzle of autism and on behavioural modification.
There is a need to promote an integrated approach, drawing in specialists from all biomedical disciplines.
Recent research surrounding the biology of autism, brain growth and inflammation, the immune and digestive systems
in conjunction with the environment and genetics will provide answers to our questions.
Autism Canada's goal is to address the root causes in order to stop this epidemic and
at the same time promote treatment based research today.
