Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China some 3,500 years ago and spread to Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Europe, and America.
There are recorded instances of acupuncture dating back before the birth of Christ.
Only in the last three decades has acupuncture become popular in the United States and Canada.
Acupuncture is a natural and holistic approach which treats the mind, body and soul of the individual
using the flow of the natural life force called Qi (pronounced chee).
While the basic theoretical principles of acupuncture remain the same, there are
different styles of acupuncture with varied techniques and diagnoses.
Acupuncture Techniques include:
- needles
- electroacupuncture
- moxibustion (herbal incense)
- laser stimulation
- electrical stimulation
- transcutaneous nerve stimulation
These different techniques are applied to the acupuncture points or needles to bring about the desired results.
There is also the use of soothing tones and music to help relieve stress and aide in promoting acupuncture treatment.
